Dr. Subba Rao Visits Honolulu as CGNK Guest

The famous Dr. S. N. Subba Rao, Director for the National Youth Program in India (affectionately called “Bhaiji”) recently visited Honolulu, Hawaii, as a guest of friend and colleague Dr. Glenn Paige, founder and Chair of the Governing Council of the Center for Global Nonkilling.

While in Honolulu, Bhaiji visited the Pacific Justice & Reconciliation’s Chinatown Peace Center, which is also home to the CGNK. In addition, he was a guest speaker at the University of Hawaii’s class “Gandhi, King, & Liliuokalani: the Power of Nonviolence” taught by CGNK Secretary Dr. Haaheo Guanson.

Bhaiji and the students visited the Gandhi statue in Waikiki and listened to his stories while eating an Indian vegetarian lunch. He also introduced the students to sing the song Jai Jagat Pukaare Ja – Victory to the World. The students were touched by his words of wisdom and stories of Gandhi and the power of nonviolence and nonkilling.
