Centre for Nonkilling and Development established in Bangladesh

The inaugural ceremony of the Centre for Nonkilling and Development at  the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, will take place on July 25, 2017. This is the result of a long process of maturation of a project, that started with the translation and publicationof the Bangla edition of Glenn Paige’s book Nonkilling Global Political Science by Professor Rashida Khanam, founder of the new academic institution for the promotion of a killing-free Bangladesh in a nonkilling world. The Centre for Nonkilling and Development is to sign a Memorandum of Affiliation with the Center for Global Nonkilling, while retaining its full autonomy.

After long planning, the establishment of the Centre for Nonkilling and Development was recommended at the 27th meeting of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Chittagong on May 11, 2017. The proposal was later approved at the 233th Academic Council meeting, held on May 25, 2017, and ratified by the Syndicate of the University at  its 509th meeting held on June 10, 2017. Professor Iftekar Uddin Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chittagong, determined that the inaugural ceremony of the new Centre should take place on July 25.

The Center for Global Nonkilling will be represented at the inaugural ceremony by its Vice-Chair, Professor Chaiwat Satha-Anand, that will join the event from Thailand.
