CGNK at the World Education Forum 2010
The Center for Global Nonkilling participated in the third meeting of the 2010 World Education Forum Organizing Committee. The World Education Forum 2010 will be held in Santiago de Compostela from December the 9th to the 13th under the auspices of the United Nations and UNESCO focusing on peace education, peace research and culture of peace.
It will run jointly with the UN’s Alliance of Civilizations High-level Group and the Decade for a Culture of Peace coordinators meetings, providing an opportunity to evaluate the level of achievement of both programs and the Millennium Development Goals. Other events will also take place within the Forum’s framework, including the International Network of Museums for Peace Conference and three thematic conferences on “The Human Right to Peace”, “Human Rights and the Media”, and “Culture of Peace, Reconciliation and Hitoric Memory”.
The meeting took place in Santiago de Compostela on April 24th. CGNK was represented by Dr. Israel Sanmartín, post-doctoral researcher at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (Paris), on behalf of Leadership Team member Joám Evans Pim.
