Nonkilling at 2009 World Education Forum
The Center for Global Nonkilling has been invited to join the Organizing Comittee of the 2009 World Education Forum on Technical and Professional Education and will be represented by Prof. Francisco Gomes de Matos, who will introduce the concept of nonkilling and the most recent CGNK publications.
This year’s WEF will take place in Brasília in November 23-27, Brazil, and, for the first time, will be dedicated to vocational and technological education. Students, teachers, researchers, workers, governments, trade unions, associations and people from the organized civil society from all around the world will take part of the Forum, that is expecting over 5,000 people. The programme is divided in three thematic axes. The first one is about education, labor and sustainable development; the second is about education, cultures and integration, and the third will discuss about education, ethics, inclusion and diversity.
CGNK is also part of the 2010 WEF Organizing Committee, jointly with other 20 partner organizations, that will be held in Santiago de Compostela from December the 9th to the 13th under the auspices of the United Nations and UNESCO. The 2010 edition will focus on peace education, peace research and culture of peace. It will run joitly with the UN’s Alliance of Civilizations High-level Group and the Decade for a Culture of Peace coordinators meetings, providing an opportunity to evaluate the level of achievement of both programs and the Millennium Development Goals.
