Akhanda Nepal Party consults with CGNK on nonkilling policy
Representatives from the Akhanda Nepal Party visited Honolulu, Hawaii, during the second week of September for a consultation with the Center for Global Nonkilling on how to make the principle of nonkilling a core feature of their political platform and future policies. The Akhanda Nepal delegation included the Party’s president and Member of Parliament Mr. Kumar Khadka and Dr. Pradeep Dhakal, party spokesperson and Director of the Chetanalaya Institute for Humanity, Peace & Spirituality.
During their visit, ANP representatives had the opportunity to meet for lenghly discussions with CGNK Chair Glenn D. Paige and were also received by the Governor of Hawaii Neil Abercrombie. Dr. Pradeep Dhakal also introduced the Nepali translation of Nonkilling Global Political Science that will be officially released and distributed before the end of this year by the Chetanalaya Institute.
By adopting nonkilling as a core principle in its work, it is believed that Akhanda Nepal Party is the first political party in the world to do so, although other political parties and movements have consulted with CGNK in the past, including the Parti de la renaissance Haitienne (Haiti) or the Civil Rights Party of Canada, in addition to govermental consultations in Thailand, Mexico and the Philippines. Such consultations do not imply CGNK’s support for any political party or government office, as it remains an independent and neutral nonprofit organization.
