Memorial Gathering in Homage of Glenn Paige, Honolulu
An international Memorial Gathering was held at the Mu Ryang Sa Buddhist Temple in Honolulu, Hawai’i on March 11-12 to celebrate the life of late Professor Glenn D. Paige (1929-2017), and marking as per Buddhist tradition the 49th Day of his passing. The ceremony was attended by over 120 persons including family, CGNK members and friends: Mrs. Glenda Paige, Professor Anoop Swarup, Professor Chaiwat Sath-Anand, Mr. Tom Fee, Mr. Rich Panter, Dr. Lou Ann Ha’aheo Guanson, Professor George Simson, Dr. Olivier Urbain, Professor Jim Dator, Professor Les Sponsel, Professor Maya Soetoro, Ms. Pam Omidyar, Dr. Bill Bhaneja and many more.
The memorial was not a tribute to Glenn’s life but also of how Professor Paige’s Nonkilling message had transformed the lives of so many across the globe in so many different ways. A plaque with Professor Paige’s ashes was laid in the temple grounds, with the inscription “No More Killing, Nonkilling Culture Crosses All Lines”. The gathering also addressed how to take Glenn’s nonkilling vision into the future, and included a meeting of the Governing Council of the Center for Global Nonkilling, that deliberated and agreed on the action plan and budget for 2017 strategizing the way ahead, with infinite creativity, in reverence for life.
