Thesis on Nonkilling as an Emerging Paradigm Defended at Jagran Lakecity University, India
Katyayani Singh successfully defended a doctoral thesis submitted for the award of Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science at Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal, India, entitled “Nonkilling and Global Peace: A Study of Emerging Paradigms and Prospects“. The defence of the thesis took place on November 15, 2018, having been prepared under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Anoop Swarup, Chair of the Center for Global Nonkilling. The full contents of the doctoral thesis are available for download at the Shodhganga@INFLIBNET Centre repository.
In the open defence viva Dr. Vidya Jain was the external examiner and included the participation of research scholars, Deans and Directors from the Schools of Humanities, Management, Commerce and likewise. The thesis is built from the initial research question “Is a nonkilling society possible?”, that CGNK founder late Prof. Glenn D. Paige had also raised in his seminal book Nonkilling Global Political Science. Dr. Singh’s thesis takes this question further through the study of political leaders such as Gandhi or Lenin, by eliciting public opinion from different parts of the world regarding to killing and
nonkilling; and developing an index that is aimed to measure the rate of killings around the world and reflect those areas of the world where human life is threatened the most.
