International Day of Peace 2025: Haitian Youth and Community Leaders Unite for Nonkilling Change
On the International Day of Peace, the Caribbean Center for Nonkilling, Peace, and Conflict Studies (CCNPCS) hosted a virtual forum on September 21, 2025, held via Zoom and streamed live on Facebook. The event brought together a diverse audience, including many young people and students from Haiti, under the central theme: “What actions can be taken to combat violence and killing in Haiti and to build a nonkilling Haitian society?”
The forum featured vibrant contributions from students and community leaders, many of whom had recently participated in the introductory seminar on nonkilling political science, organized by CCNPCS with the support of the Center for Global Nonkilling (CGNK). Discussions largely focused on Haiti’s security challenges, with participants emphasizing the urgent need to promote peace education and nonkilling values across communities. Speakers strongly advocated for the teaching of peace and nonkilling in Haiti’s educational system as a pathway to lasting transformation.
In closing, Roland Joseph, President of CCNPCS, invited participants to reconvene on October 2, 2025, for another dialogue on violence in Haiti, marking the International Day of Nonviolence. CCNPCS is a newly established initiative in Haiti, created within the Institut de Gestion, de Gouvernance et d’Études Politiques (IGGEP), and operates in partnership with the Center for Global Nonkilling (CGNK).
