Master’s Program on Peace features Course on Nonkilling
An specific Elective Advanced Studies course on “Introduction to Nonkilling Studies” was featured at the joint Master’s Programme in Peace, Mediation and Conflict Research organized by the Department of Social Sciences at Åbo Akademi University and the Tampere Peace Research Institute. The 5 ECTS course was lectured at the Vasa campus of Åbo Akademi by CGNK Director Joám Evans Pim.
The intensive program on Nonkilling Studies involved 25 students from countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Kenya, South Sudan, Germany, Austria, Morocco, Finland, USA, Northern Cyprus, Kosovo, … combining lectures, group discussions and presentations, that will be completed by individual research assignments, subject to publication within the Center’s Global Nonkilling Working Papers series.
The Master’s Programme in Peace, Mediation and Conflict Research provides interdisciplinary approaches to research on the complex issues of peace and conflict in the contemporary world. These approaches aim to facilitate the understanding of the deep roots of wars and conflicts as well as their short and long term consequences. This Master’s Programme also studies the preconditions for conflict resolution and peace in local as well as in international and global contexts.
