Nonkilling Observatory presented at International Relations Research Seminar

The Global Nonkilling Observatory, a joint initiative of the Center for Global Nonkilling and the Itajaí Valley University (Univali), Brazil, was presented on October 29, during the Fifth Scientific Research Seminar on International Relations (“V Seminário de Pesquisa Científica em Relações Internacionais”).

The Observatory is an exploratory project to monitor nonkilling organizations, actions and leaders on a global scale, developing updated country reports, an annual reference book and a biannual guide of best nonkilling practices. The Observatory is based at Univali’s International Relations Laboratory and is integrated by faculty and undergraduate students.

A paper on the implications of a nonkilling paradigm shift in international relations was also delivered by CGNK team member Joám Evans Pim during the Seminar, organized by by Univali’s Jean Monet Chair on European Integration. The Itajaí valley University is one of the largest higher education institutions in Brazil. Located on the central northern coast of the State of Santa Catarina, it has campuses in the towns of Itajaí, Balneário Camboriú, Biguaçu, Balneário Piçarras, São José and Tijucas.
