The Center for Global Nonkilling was represented at the 9th International Conference on Peace and Nonviolent Action by its Chair Dr. Anoop Swarup and Treasurer Dr. Maorong Jiang. The Conference was organized in Jaipur, India, on Dec 17 to Dec 21, 2017, by Anuvrat Global Organization (ANUVIBHA) under the theme “Science, Spirituality and Universal Peace”. Dr. Swarup offered a plenary lecture on “A Nonkilling World View” in the inaugural session, addressing the sudden and revolutionary emergence of such global approach, that together with language, consciousness, and culture but, more importantly, our nonkilling ethics, may assist in a needed shift.

On the other hand, Dr. Jiang participated in the session “Is a nonviolent socio-political order possible?”, that replicated CGNK’s Founder Glenn Paige’s key scientific question. Dr. Jiang’s conference “Glenn Paige’s Legendary Question: Is a Nonkilling Society Possible?” explored the importance of constantly raising such a question through his own experience teaching 101 Introduction of Politics class over the past decade using Paige’s work.

ANUVRAT, a Jain organization, under the direction of Dr. Sohan L. Gandhi, President of Anuvrat and Board of Governors member of Intercultural Open University Foundation (IOUF), organized the conference for the purpose of initiating dialogue throughout the world on peace and nonviolence. Among a diversity of themes, the conference addressed the topics “Ecological Science and Eco-Spirituality”, “Medical Science and Spiritual Healing”, “Peace and Conflict Research” or “Evolution: Scientific and Spiritual Approaches”. CGNK had participated in the 8th ICPNV Conference in 2014 through a video lecture by its founder Prof. Glenn D. Paige.
