«Give Nonkilling a Chance» Explores How Nonkilling Societies Are Possible

An impressive collection of essays exploring nonkilling possibilities has just been released in the form of a collective volume by Konark Publishers in India. The new hardback book, Give Nonkilling a Chance: Are Nonkilling Societies Possible? was edited by CGNK Governing Council Chair Prof. Anoop Swarup and can be purchased online. The 400-pages collection of essays includes both original contributions, including the editor’s introduction developing the concept of “affirmative nonkilling”, and a selection of chapters published over the past decade by the members of the various Nonkilling Research Committees in the Nonkilling Studies series, including Toward a Nonkilling Paradigm, Nonkilling Societies, Nonkilling History: Shaping Policy with Lessons from the Past, Engineering Nonkilling: Scientific Responsibility and the Advancement of Killing-Free Societies, Nonkilling Geography, Nonkilling Futures: Visions, Nonkilling Linguistics: Practical Applications, Nonkilling Psychology, Nonkilling Media, Nonkilling Security and the State, Nonkilling Spiritual Traditions and Nonkilling Education.

Dr Anoop Swarup has nearly 40 years of experience in diverse roles as a poet, author, speaker, peace activist, life scientist, futurist, social entrepreneur, civil servant and educationist. He is the founding Vice Chancellor of Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal and a Fellow of Royal Society of Arts (FRSA, London). Former Vice Chancellor of Shobhit University and a GEO reviewer with UNEP, Dr Swarup is a visiting Professor/Resource Person with various universities in India and abroad. He has also held many key positions in the Government of India and the UN. He is the Chair of the Governing Council of the Center for Global Nonkilling since 2015, Founder Chair of ‘Global Knowledge Alliance’ (GKA) Australia (2014) and Founding Trustee of Indian Council of Gandhian Studies (ICGS). Dr Swarup is the recipient of Hiroshima Peace Award (2016), Presidential Award on Republic Day of India (2003), and Amrita Devi Vishnoi Medal (2013).
