Sarajevo Nonkilling Cultures Summit Starts Off

Th “2nd International Women’s Summit: Nonkilling Cultures” will start off in Sarajevo on June 19 with a full program extending to June 25. The Summit is organized by Kolo: Women’s Cross Cultural Collaboration, in collaboration with the Center for Global Nonkilling and other partners including the Bosnian-American Genocide Institute and Education Center, the International University of Sarajevo, Southern Connecticut State University and Women for Women.

The Summit is conceived around main theme “Women’s Issues: Trauma Healing Practices, Nonkilling Cultures- Motherhood, Empowerment in Feminist Narratives.” The Center for Global Nonkilling will be represented by Elina Viitasaari, UN Gender Focal Point, who will offer the keynote address on the Opening Day. Nonkilling will be a cross-cutting theme, with presentations by various panelists as well as a lecture by Dr. Danica Anderson (2019 Summit Chair).

The Summit continues with the legacy of the  “Nonkilling Balkans Exploratory Forum” held in Sarajevo on August 28 and 29, 2014, and followed by the Sarajevo Declaration for a Nonkilling Balkans and the collective volume Nonkilling Balkans.
